WIP Wednesday and some of this and that.....

This weekend the bear and I had an adventure together. He turns 4 very soon and I wanted to have some special time with my family. We hit the road early Saturday morning and headed to my mom's house. We walked in and the whole table is overflowing with presents. I was worried he would throw a fit when I left him but he turned around and said, bye mom... (I miss the days when he called me mama). Leaving him, I knew N and my mom were off on a big adventure. I left him for the day and headed to a friends house.
Every week a group of knitters pick a spot and we meet up for some sweet knitting time. I joined this group in 2011 however, they have been going strong for a while. One member moved recently to  my hometown. The group decided to make a trip and visit her. While the bear was being spoiled I decided to take on some serious knitting, wine drinking and girl time. The trip was just that and what I needed. We walk in and there is a buffet of food, large table set up for knitting and great conversation. We stayed up until 11 pm chatting, knitting and eating. Here is the progress I have made on my socks:

The next morning we woke up, knitted for a bit and said our "see ya laters" and "we will have to do this again soon"! I went and picked up the bear from my mom's house. He was super excited to see me. He showed me all of his new toys and clothes, explained his day at the children's museum, and his great time with grandma. Next we were off to have lunch with my dad and his girlfriend. It was a nice time sitting have dinner and chatting. My dad also spoiled the bear. He got so many new toys; he does not even know what to play with first! After lunch we were off, back home. It was a great weekend away.

If you have stopped by my blog before, you may have noticed my background has changed. I decided I wanted a picture that represented me a bit more. The picture I choose is one I took while in Egypt with my hubby. It was a beautiful day visiting ancient ruins.  We spent the holiday and New Years in 2008 for a friends wedding visiting Egypt.

Thanks for stopping by! I am glad you did. I joined Ginny and Tamis Amis today.
P.S. Someone missed me this weekend:

WIP Wednesday

Hello Knitters.

This past weekend we spent up in MN with family. My husband's cousin and her family are simply awesome! We love hanging out there, just being ourselves. No agenda, no worries, just laughs. Of course we make one outing to her LYS. It is an adorable shop called Amazing Threads. Sweet M treated me to this yarn I found. It is this delicious sock yarn and I fell in love with it. The color screams summer, beach, ocean and everything warm.

I am not sure what pattern to choose yet... Any suggestions? I love patterns with a simple repeat, like the monkey socks or tadpoles pattern.
This weekend was so much fun. We ate amazing food, relaxed, laughed, knitted.... Speaking of which, N was spoiled with a new pair of socks. Now, he will not take them off. To see the socks and read about that story click here
On the way out of town we stopped at kids hair. This place is great for getting your kids hair cut (with reasonable prices). The bear wanted to add a bit of green as well. Finally, we said hi to my brother and M. Nolan played for hours with my brother's classic starwars toys.
Here is the project I started over the weekend. I love it. It gives me some hope spring is on its way and will always remind me of this prefect relaxing weekend. This is 4 different colors of sock yarn, by CoBaSi. (The chemist in me loves the name!)

How was your weekend? Busy week? Tonight, I am hosting a potluck for my knitting group. I am a bit nervous about hosting but it should be a great time. Happy WIP Wednesday.
I linked up with the Yarn Along on Ginny and Tami Amis. Check it out.

What is on the needles

Hello Knitters. It has been forever since I last wrote a post. The cold weather here in WI is starting to take it's toll. I am ready for fresh air blowing through the house and at 10 degrees that is not happening.

I took a few weeks off of knitting because I have been so busy. But, at last, I have picked up the needles again. With glorious tax returns I treated myself and bestie to Opposites Attract yarn by Barking Dog Yarns. I got her the Isolde & Teague colorway and I choose the Bogart and Bacall set for myself.

I decided to knit the socks at same time on different dpns. I love seeing how the two socks compare and contrast to one another. As for another project, I started the Dragonfly socks with Frolicking Feet yarn.
