WIP Wednesday

Hello Knitters.

I hope your Wednesday is filled with holiday joy and excitement.

OK... Please do not judge me. I think every knitter does it, at least once. I started 2 new projects and I have not finished a single on already one my needles. I was just so excited to cast on with such pretty yarn. We have all been there, I am sure of it!
A sweet coworker and friend of mine is expecting. We all know that means baby blanket knitting. I cast on the baby blanket by Drops Design. I am not very good at understanding Drops Designs patterns and my friend found this raverly project which rewrote the pattern and made it much easier to understand.
I am 5 repeats into the first section and I am in love. I might even make this blanket for my son who is 4. It is just beautiful. My best knitting buddy, already knitted this blanket. Her knitted blanket is the most stunning and beautiful blanket ever, I am not exaggerating. Check it out here. I hope someday to have have the talent this amazing women has.
Currently, I have a lot of socks on needles. I love knitting socks but I need something with instant gratification. I decided to cast on  the Squish-Squash Cable Hat by Tar3820.  It's cold here in Wisconsin and I cannot wait to wear my hat in the winter!
I am reading I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith. I am about half way and it is a very interesting and fun read. The prospective is wonderful and very uplifting. While reading it, you experience the beauty around you and appreciate the little things that are so often over looked. I usually read fiction, scifi books but I am glad I read this one as well.

Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your holiday! I joined Ginny today.

WIP Wednesday

Hello Knitters!

Where to start? I have cast on many projects, so there much to share. First, I have been in LOVE with the toasty twist sock pattern forever! I just wanted to find the right skein. I found this beauty while visiting a friend Chicago! Now, I am all set to start knitting.
I have been drooling over the Stray Cat Self Stripping Yarns for a long time. My friend and I bought some yarn and decided to work the Mystik Spiral Sock pattern.

This project is challenging. I had to rewrite the pattern for a smaller foot size and learn how to make German Short Rows (best youtube video here. ) I am not fond of how the short rows look but I love the pattern so much, I am starting to not care. Plus, the stripes look super cute in my opinion.... Moving on....

I started the Duotone Cowl for myself as well. I had way to many socks on needles and needed something with a bigger needle to work on. I love love love these colors. I wanted to step out of the box and try something not in my normal color scheme and this project is it.
Finally, I finished the All Souls Trilogy... I am so sad it is over but it was a great read. I am now reading, I capture the castle. It was suggested to me by a friend and I do love the tone of the book. It is engaging and fun. I would never have chosen this book myself so I am glad I asked for suggestions... I hope you are all having a wondering Wednesday. Thanks for stopping by. I joined Ginny today.

The Bear's Socks

I am proud to admit I have the cuddliest, cutest and sweet little boy ever. I have many nick names for him, the bear, nonobear, short stuff, cutiepie, sweet pea and so on.  He lives up to every name. The coolest thing, he loves LOVES, hand knit socks. For someone to be this appreciative of socks, well, he will get many pairs. I saw the Angry Birds Colorway on Turtlepurl yarns and thought of him instantly. I started by casting on 52 stitches and then k3p1 pattern for the cuff. I made basic socks from the cuff down using an adaptive version of the afterthought heel. They turned out perfect.

For an extra special treat, I made myself a new set of stitch markers. It's the little things in life that make me so happy. Happy Monday.
