WIP Wednesday: OA Yarn

I am really excited about my Opposite Attract Yarn by Barking Dog. I choose the Bogart and Bacall colorways. I first heard of this yarn on this blog. (Oh my goodness, this women makes beautiful socks in record time!) I wanted a simple pattern that would not be lost in the bright colors. I chose the Charybdis Socks. I treated myself and a my knitting buddy to the yarn as a treat. She already finished her socks and it made me want to dive right into mine. I already started these a while ago but now I want to finish them.

Today I am linking with Ginny.

FO Friday

Hello Knitters.
I have finished 2 projects over the past few weeks. Below is the first project. These socks were made with cotton yarn in four different colorways. I did not follow a pattern, just made plain socks. I randomly made the stripes. Weaving in all the ends was a bit tedious however getting a one of a kind pair of socks made it worth the work.

I love how the socks match ( I am a bit OCD about matching) but they are different. The colors were perfect for spring weather! One set back, I had a tighter gauge for the second sock. However, I think with use they will loosen up.

Second project off the needles is the Kalajoki socks. I love this yarn as well. The colors are so bold. I also love the twist of the yarn and the feel. High twist yarn is my favorite but this yarn has such a nice look once knitted up. Very pretty and fun! Two more pairs for the sock drawer.
My son really wants another pair of socks. So I told him to try knitting.....
Enjoy your weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

WIP Wednesdays!

Hello Knitters. I am happy to report, I am on to another WIP. A while back, I blogged about my boot socks project. I selected Little Cable Knee Highs for the boot socks pattern. I love the look of these simply yet sexy boot socks. However, this project was off to a rough start because of the yarn I selected first for the project was not a good fit for the pattern. I chose a variegated yarn and with the color changes, the simple cable was lost and all "muddy". Besides the colors, the sizing of the sock was really hard to figure out. The first attempt lead to a sock that both feet could fit in! After a couple of tries, the socks have now become a stunning project! I love it when a project beats your expectations. I am done with the first sock and on my way to finishing the second. These socks will go to my mother in law for her birthday. It's in two weeks. I hope I can make that deadline!!

My knitting buddy and I have started a pact. We need to finish 4 WIPS before we can move on to a new project. The new project must be made from yarn in stash.... I am very optimistic about this pact and I hope we can keep it up!

What's on your needles? Thanks for stopping by, you made my day! Today I am joining Ginny and Tami!

WIP Wednesday

Hello. I decided to finish up some socks that were in my knitting bag and so close to being finished! Last Aug is when I put the project down and now I am very excited to start at it again. This pattern is Kalajoki. At first, I was not sure if I liked the pattern but now I totally love the simple pattern down the side of the sock.
I also started to knitting with a small circular needle instead of dpns... not sure if I like it or not. I carry my knitting with me to work in a back pack. Twice I have busted a dpn in my bag... this makes me angry! I thought I would give circular needles a chance to win my love.

This past week has been a bit emotional. I am not even sure what emotions I am feeling. My baby boy is getting so big so fast. He turned 4 this past week and truthfully it is so hard to believe. I remember the day he was placed in my arms like it was yesterday. Happy Birthday N, you are amazing.

Today I joined Tami's and Ginny. Thanks for stopping by!

WIP Wednesday and some of this and that.....

This weekend the bear and I had an adventure together. He turns 4 very soon and I wanted to have some special time with my family. We hit the road early Saturday morning and headed to my mom's house. We walked in and the whole table is overflowing with presents. I was worried he would throw a fit when I left him but he turned around and said, bye mom... (I miss the days when he called me mama). Leaving him, I knew N and my mom were off on a big adventure. I left him for the day and headed to a friends house.
Every week a group of knitters pick a spot and we meet up for some sweet knitting time. I joined this group in 2011 however, they have been going strong for a while. One member moved recently to  my hometown. The group decided to make a trip and visit her. While the bear was being spoiled I decided to take on some serious knitting, wine drinking and girl time. The trip was just that and what I needed. We walk in and there is a buffet of food, large table set up for knitting and great conversation. We stayed up until 11 pm chatting, knitting and eating. Here is the progress I have made on my socks:

The next morning we woke up, knitted for a bit and said our "see ya laters" and "we will have to do this again soon"! I went and picked up the bear from my mom's house. He was super excited to see me. He showed me all of his new toys and clothes, explained his day at the children's museum, and his great time with grandma. Next we were off to have lunch with my dad and his girlfriend. It was a nice time sitting have dinner and chatting. My dad also spoiled the bear. He got so many new toys; he does not even know what to play with first! After lunch we were off, back home. It was a great weekend away.

If you have stopped by my blog before, you may have noticed my background has changed. I decided I wanted a picture that represented me a bit more. The picture I choose is one I took while in Egypt with my hubby. It was a beautiful day visiting ancient ruins.  We spent the holiday and New Years in 2008 for a friends wedding visiting Egypt.

Thanks for stopping by! I am glad you did. I joined Ginny and Tamis Amis today.
P.S. Someone missed me this weekend:

WIP Wednesday

Hello Knitters.

This past weekend we spent up in MN with family. My husband's cousin and her family are simply awesome! We love hanging out there, just being ourselves. No agenda, no worries, just laughs. Of course we make one outing to her LYS. It is an adorable shop called Amazing Threads. Sweet M treated me to this yarn I found. It is this delicious sock yarn and I fell in love with it. The color screams summer, beach, ocean and everything warm.

I am not sure what pattern to choose yet... Any suggestions? I love patterns with a simple repeat, like the monkey socks or tadpoles pattern.
This weekend was so much fun. We ate amazing food, relaxed, laughed, knitted.... Speaking of which, N was spoiled with a new pair of socks. Now, he will not take them off. To see the socks and read about that story click here
On the way out of town we stopped at kids hair. This place is great for getting your kids hair cut (with reasonable prices). The bear wanted to add a bit of green as well. Finally, we said hi to my brother and M. Nolan played for hours with my brother's classic starwars toys.
Here is the project I started over the weekend. I love it. It gives me some hope spring is on its way and will always remind me of this prefect relaxing weekend. This is 4 different colors of sock yarn, by CoBaSi. (The chemist in me loves the name!)

How was your weekend? Busy week? Tonight, I am hosting a potluck for my knitting group. I am a bit nervous about hosting but it should be a great time. Happy WIP Wednesday.
I linked up with the Yarn Along on Ginny and Tami Amis. Check it out.
